Outsourcing of information- and care duties

All stick together

As an employer, you are legally obliged to provide a lot of information to your employees. At the same time, however, as an employer you also want to bind your employees to the company and increase employee satisfaction, since finding good staff has become very difficult in times of a shortage of skilled workers.

That's why many German employers are already looking abroad for skilled workers these days. Not every company has a large personnel department with enough capacity to meet all requirements 100% and usually in English, because the new employees do not yet have a very good command of the German language. This is where our employer service comes in. We explain all insurance topics to your employees in English or, if required, in other languages. This way you can sit back and relax and leave the educational duties completely to us.

Whether you are an organisation sending professionals and managers abroad or receiving them from abroad, the challenges for them are similar. Being a stranger in a new country, not knowing the legal structure and being heavily dependent on others at first. This is probably not a pleasant feeling for anyone. Therefore, the organisation should try to prepare or welcome the person as much as possible. Below we would like to mention a few important points.

Inform yourself about the destination country!

First of all, from our point of view, it is a key factor to know how the health system in the destination country is structured. Is one eligible for the statutory system or not, am I only allowed to have domestic health insurance, what are the payment modalities, is there a social security agreement between the destination country and the home country and are only emergency treatments covered there? Public health insurance coverage can vary greatly between countries. Some countries have rules about when you are allowed to use the statutory system; if you need a residence permit first, you will have to take out private insurance in these cases. In any case, familiarise yourself with the local conditions.

Check your insurance cover!

Compare the insurance coverage legally and privately. If private health insurance must be purchased, check the insurance conditions for possible exclusions. In some countries, insurance cover is dependent on the number of months insured. This is similar to a waiting period in Germany. The best case would be to take out international health insurance in Germany with benefits that you know, understand and can choose.

What kind of insurance cover do I need?

Do I need local insurance, private health insurance or expat insurance? Do I have insurance coverage through my employer or am I entitled to a health insurance clause in my employment contract? Before you go on assignment, find out what specific insurance cover you need.

Find a health insurance that suits you!

The most important thing is to find an insurance that covers and satisfies all your needs. As a rule, it makes sense to choose an international health insurance policy. We as insurance brokers can help you with the selection or your employee or impatriate to be posted.

Gaps in coverage

Professional trips abroad are often associated with a variety of risks and can lead to illness or accidents. In the worst case, this can lead to occupational disability or death. The usual insurance policies do not offer secure protection against the risks abroad, as they have gaps in coverage. Only comprehensive travel protection offers the necessary security!

See for yourself!

  • Statutory Accident Insurance

Only applies to occupational accidents and occupational diseases!

  • Private Accident Insurance

Applies worldwide, but only in the case of accidents with a corresponding definition ("... an event suddenly affecting the body from outside and damaging to health ...")

  • Statutory pension insurance

Insufficient benefits because insurance often only applies to the definition of disability!

  • Statutory health insurance

No claims of the insured person. Exception:

Partial benefits for stays in EC states, or European agreement countries or third countries with social security agreements.

The following diagram shows the risks that can have a significant influence on the "well-being" of the person who has been given away!

And what's next? Are there any insurance options? Of course! We will enlighten you!

  • 1. What protection options are there?

The usual insurance options include the statutory accident insurance, private accident insurance, statutory pension insurance and health insurance.

  • 2. Why should your employees protect themselves additionally?

There is no reliable protection against the risks abroad, as the usual insurance policies have considerable gaps in coverage.

  • 3. Do I have obligations as an employer?

Yes, as an employer you have the legal obligation to reimburse medical treatment costs incurred during a professional assignment abroad of your employee (§17, para. 1, SGB V). This also applies to accompanying or visiting spouses and children. As part of your duty of care, you should ensure that the employee or his/her family does not suffer any financial disadvantages in the event of death or occupational disability abroad.

    disadvantages arise.

  • 4. Your advantages at a glance

Lasting: Long-term employee loyalty and motivation

Safe: Fulfilment of the duty of care

Reliable: Assumption of social responsibility and thus strengthening of the image as an employer
